Don Jazzy

Don Jazzy was born on 26 November 1982 in Umuahia, Abia state. He grew up with his three siblings in Ajegunle city, Lagos state, where his family moved when he was little. He graduated from Federal Government College Lagos. Michael started playing the drums and singing when he was four. At the age of 12, he developed a passion for the bass guitar. He graduated from the Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma in Edo state where he studied Business Management. In 2000, Don Jazzy moved to London, the United Kingdom when his uncle invited him to come play the drums for the neighbourhood church. In 2004, he partnered with D'Banj to set up the Mo' Hits Records. Under Mo’ Hits label, he released the next albums: In 2011, Kanye West noticed Don Jazzy’s talent and signed him up as a producer on his GOOD Music label. In May 2012, he split up with childhood friend and Mo'Hits partner, D'banj, and founded Mavin Records label. He has produced tracks for such artists as Dr SID, Wande Coal, D'Prince, Darey, Naeto C, Olakunle Excel et Zanga, Sauce Kid, Ikechukwu & Tiwa Savage. He also collaborated with Jay-Z and Kanye West on the production of Lift Off, featuring Beyoncé on the album Watch The Throne, released on 8 August 2011.
